This is the second quarterly report on The Official Information Portal for Anaerobic Digestion, www.biogas-info.co.uk.
The biogas installations map has again been updated to include the latest plants that have become operational in the last three months. There are now 68 AD plants in the UK generating renewable energy (Sept 2011), an eight per cent increase since June. These sites are now classified as "Farm Feedstock Only", "Waste Feedstock" and " Biomethane Injection" into the national grid to bring them in line with the definitions given in the AD Strategy and Action Plan. For the latest information on operational AD plants please visit www.biogas-info.co.uk/index.php/ad-map.html.
Finding examples of operational AD plants can be difficult. To help you can now find a number of case studies on the website, which demonstrate real-world applications of the technology. To view these case studies please visit www.biogas-info.co.uk/index.php/ad-case-studies.html.
If you want to apply for an environmental permit for a waste operation, such as anaerobic digestion, you must be able to demonstrate operator competence. There are currently two approved schemes to prove operator competence, for more information please visit www.biogas-info.co.uk/index.php/regulations-qa.html#opcomp.
For funding information, including details of WRAPs new £10 million Anaerobic Digestion Loan Fund designed to support the development of new AD capacity in England, please visit www.biogas-info.co.uk/index.php/funding-qa.html.
And for those in Scotland, we provide further information on the new PAS110 biofertiliser support available through WRAP, for more information please visit www.biogas-info.co.uk/index.php/standards-and-quality-control.html.
